Contributing to the blood donation campaign in Qatar is a duty [ar]
More than 50 French and other francophone residents, among them employees from the French Embassy to the State of Qatar, participated in a blood donation campaign held today at the French Ambassador’s Residence.
His Excellency the French Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Mr. Eric Chevallier, thanked all donors for contributing to the Qatar National Blood Donation Campaign and expressed his appreciation for the active role of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) unit team, as well as the Francophone network association in Qatar, Doha Accueil.
Addressing the media, the French Ambassador stressed the importance of blood donation, which he said: “saves lives and conveys a strong message of solidarity”.
He added: “I personally donated my blood at the Blood Donation Unit in Hamad Hospital in February as a first step to set an example. Blood Donation is a noble and lifesaving act that helps everyday victims of car crashes, delivering women, patients for major surgeries or transplantation, and those with some diseases that require frequent blood transfusion.
In February, I promised to mobilize the French community and more broadly the francophone community living in Qatar. This has been fulfilled today with the great support of the Francophone network association, Doha Accueil.
And we will continue. On the 8th of April, we plan to have another blood donation campaign at the Blood Donation Center at Hamad Hospital with again the help of Doha Accueil and the French Lycée Bonaparte.
All these donations will save lives in Qatar”.
