Embassy taking part in the Sustainable Week (25/10/2018)
As part of the 3rd edition of the Sustainable Development Week in Qatar, the French Embassy and Al Wakra Municipality wished to put on record, for the third consecutive year, their commitment to the protection of the environment and the fight against the climate change.
This year, Mr. Florian Cardinaux, the First Counselor of the French Embassy, accompanied by Mrs. Valérie Boscherel, the President of the Doha Accueil Association, were welcomed by Mr. Mansour AL Boenain, Director of the Municipality of Al Wakrah, at the Municipal Garden. They symbolically planted trees to illustrate the importance of the fight against deforestation.
On this occasion, Mr. Mansour AL Boenain, Director of Al Wakrah municipality said: “I warmly thank all the organizations that are participating and supporting this 3rd edition of the Sustainability Week, launched this year by Al-Wakrah municipality and the Qatar Green Building Council," and he added, "I would also like to express special thanks for the Embassy of France and the French community, they’re key partners of Al-Wakrah during this week, and their continued involvement in the protection of the environment has a significant impact in supporting Qatar Vision 2030, and in accompanying the city of Al-Wakrah in its green transition, especially that Al-Wakrah is the first city in the Gulf region to have acquired a permanent seat in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities”.
