International Women’s Rights Day (08/03/2018)

On the occasion of the 2018 International Women’s rights day, celebrated on the 8th of March, the French Ambassador to the State of Qatar HE Eric Chevallier and his spouse, along with the women working at the French embassy, held a reception today at the French Residence for Qatari and foreign women living in Qatar.

The French Ambassador stressed the essential participation of women to the development of Qatar and the achievement of its Vision 2030. He particularly insisted on their prominent role in the Qatari-French relationship, citing the recent visits to France by HH Sheikha Mozah, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa and HE Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, which helped strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, culture and health respectively.
HE Eric Chevallier also highlighted the contribution of all women present, in their respective fields, to the French-Qatari ties. “Dear friends, you are a core part in the relation between France and Qatar and you are key to make it so special!” he said.

On the occasion of the International Women’s rights day, HE Eric Chevallier emphasized France’s new International strategy for gender equality (2018-2022), "the concrete international embodiment of President Macron’s commitment to make gender equality the great cause of his tenure". This strategy aims to apply an integrated approach, taking into account gender equality in all aspects of France’s external action. It puts the emphasis on key sector-specific policies such as girl’s education, economic empowerment of women or effective participation of women in public life.
